Despite a snowy, cold January night, 120 hardy souls braved the Michigan winter weather to help us celebrate our 2023 season in the Piston Group’s Detroit facility (what we like to call our “FB4K warehouse”)! The crowd was there to thank our volunteers and sponsors for supporting our mission for another year and to celebrate over 2,000 kids getting the chance to experience the joy of a bicycle before the holidays. This brings our lifetime total to 12,385 kids in our community who have received a bike from FB4K since 2018! A smart looking FB4K pin was given to all volunteers who signed up to work at least five shifts, while those who worked ten or more shifts received custom glassware with an FB4K Detroit logo. As you’ll see in our video above, 2023 marked a return of our corporate volunteer groups as local industry resumed pre-Covid volunteer programs across the board. Food for the party was provided by Sterling Old Style Barbecue (contact Quentin at 313.695.4756 to book him for your event) – partygoers were unanimous in their praise for the delicious smoked ribs and chicken along with sides. The atmosphere was festive and we look forward to seeing everybody in the fall of 2024 for our 7th FB4K Detroit season as we strive to get every kid in our city on a bike!
