Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. In 2023 you helped us collect, refurbish and distribute over 2,000 bikes, along with new helmets, to under-resourced kids in our community. Thank you Detroit for helping us change the lives of so many local children!
Thank You for Helping a Kid Be a Kid
We’re a passionate group of people who love giving back. It’s our goal to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike and in the last 5 years we’ve helped over 12,000 kids in the Detroit area get a bike and a new helmet.

Bikes Keep Rolling In: We’ve Received 2,561 Donated Bikes so far in 2024!
The bikes have continued to roll in the last 5 weeks from bike industry partners, corporate bike builds and bike drives, individuals and bike clubs that have brought in hundreds of bikes. We can accept bikes until November 15th then we’ll need to focus on finishing the ones we’ve got before the holidays. Our schedule is full with volunteer groups, so unless you have a group of bike mechanics, we’re done signing up new groups for the season. To sign up for an individual shift, though, just click on the “Volunteer” button at the top or bottom of this page. Let’s go Detroit – help us cross the finish line in 2024 as December 5th is our final volunteer day this season!
