We’re a passionate group of people who love giving back. It’s our goal to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike and in the last 8 years we’ve helped over 17,400 kids in the Detroit area get a bike and a new helmet.
Turn a Dusty Bike Into a Shiny Smile
Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. In 2025 you helped us collect, refurbish and distribute over 2,800 bikes, along with new helmets, to under-resourced kids in our community. Thank you Detroit for helping us change the lives of so many local children!
Collection Day Complete – 1,382 Bikes Added to Our Inventory in 5 Hours!
The 2026 Free Bikes 4 Kidz’ bike collection is in the books and it was an amazing day! We collected almost 1,400 bikes in 5 hours from 9a-2p on Saturday, 9/26. We had 9 trucks crisscrossing metro Detroit picking up donations at 11 locations. We already had over 300 bikes in our warehouse and we expect to collect over 800 more over the course of the next several weeks, so we’ll have close to 2,500 bikes to clean and repair. So if you would like to come down to Corktown to help change a child’s life, please consider joining us for a 3-hour volunteer shift (no skills or tools needed) by clicking here or on the volunteer button above. We need all the help we can get over the next 10 weeks so please consider lending a hand to help a child get a bike this Christmas!
