We’re a passionate group of people who love giving back. It’s our goal to help every child feel the joy and freedom of riding their first bike and in the last 8 years we’ve helped over 17,400 kids in the Detroit area get a bike and a new helmet.
Turn a Dusty Bike Into a Shiny Smile
Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. In 2025 you helped us collect, refurbish and distribute over 2,800 bikes, along with new helmets, to under-resourced kids in our community. Thank you Detroit for helping us change the lives of so many local children!

The 2026 Free Bikes 4 Kidz’ bike season is quickly approaching and the FB4K crew are gearing up for another amazing year of putting a giant smile on the faces of thousands of kids with a bicycle! We’ll need your help both with bike donations and volunteering to help clean and repair all the bikes that we’ll collect. We have 11 locations across metro Detroit to donate bicycles on 9/26. Our flagship location will be at Woodward Corners shopping plaza on the southwest corner of 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak; 106.7 WLLZ will be broadcasting from the parking lot and there will be a live band playing!
We hope to collect and distribute 3,000 bikes this year so please help us meet that goal by donating a bike on September 26 and volunteering between 9/28 and 12/5 to refurbish the bikes. You can also join us on our 4th Annual Pre-Season Roll through the streets of SW Detroit and around the Riverfront on Sept. 20 at 4pm. Thank you Detroit – together we can get more kids riding towards a happier, healthier childhood!
